Adopting Violet was supposed to be a short-term commitment giving an old dog a home, but it became a life-long journey. I'm so fortunate to have provided a loving home to more than 50 senior dogs and cats since we started in 2014, all while partnering with some of the most passionate and driven people in animal rescue.

We take in senior dogs so that their last chapter is their best chapter.   We educate the public on the benefits of adopting a senior pet. 

2008 - Christine adopted Violet from a municipal shelter on Long Island and their lives changed forever.

2012 - Chance, Bubba and Susie arrive at the house.

2014 - ​​Silver Hearts Sanctuary, Inc. is born and now provides a loving home to more than a dozen senior dogs and cats. ​
